About Rak's Story

Rak's Story brings authentic Korean beauty industry knowledge to a global audience — daily reports on K-beauty trends, new product launches, and the formulation science behind the routines that have made Korean skincare the most influential force in modern beauty.

Who runs this site?

Rak's Story is written and edited by Rak Choi, a K-Beauty industry insider with 10 years covering Korean cosmetics brands, formulation science, and the global K-beauty market. Rak has worked alongside Korean cosmetic brand teams in Seoul, attended Cosmoprof and K-Beauty Expo annually, and personally tested thousands of formulations across Korean indie brands and major players (Amorepacific, LG H&H, COSRX, Beauty of Joseon, Skin1004, Numbuzin, and many more).

Editorial standards at Rak's Story include:

  • Ingredient-level analysis. We don't just review products — we break down INCI lists, explain why specific concentrations matter (niacinamide 5%, snail mucin 96%, centella 100ml), and call out marketing claims that don't match the formulation.
  • Korean industry context. We explain why Korean brands take certain approaches (lighter textures, multi-step routines, SPF formulation philosophy) rooted in real industry practices — not Westernized "K-beauty" stereotypes.
  • Honest brand reviews. We compare Korean originals against their Western dupes (Sephora exclusives, drugstore alternatives) with transparency on ingredient quality, sourcing, and value.
  • Real long-term testing. Major reviews are based on 4-12 weeks of consistent use — not 3-day "first impressions" content that misses how products actually perform on real skin.
